While I wouldn't be against buying a very good game based on Steamworks, I'm yet to see many such games. As lack of games shouldn't be a problem for me for the next few years even if GOG shuts down tomorrow, I don't really need to get lots of mediocre Steamworks games* in the forseeable future.

In my albeit limited experience of games with sequels built on Steamworks, the sequel has been less interesting and enjoyable than the original, and the 'enhancements' by the community have been more numerous but more minor. I quit at about turn 50 or so, having nearly reached the Classical era with only 3 units, on the "Epic" speed, which is far faster progression than the previous games. I also got a Civ 5 Steam key, and decided to activate it and try the game to see if it's as bad as many of the fans of previous Civ games (like me) say. Ultimately, though, GOG's rate of releases which I'm interested in is still far higher than my rate of completing the GOG games I buy. Conveniently, most games on both platforms work out as significantly less on GOG for the UK, too, at least with current exchange rates. In other words, I'd be willing to pay £5-10 more for a game on GOG than Steam. The next game I'd like to play, but not via steam, will be Stronghold Crusader 2.Īnd on-topic, +1 for the giveaway! *Shrug* I'll use Steam, but a game being tied to Steam will tend to deduct about £5-10 from its effective value to me, depending on the size of the game. I already missed out games like Stronghold 3, Assasins Creed, Anno 2070. Fuck Steam for not deleting that nick name! O

he's using my real name as his steam nickname.! I already asked Steam to change his name, but they didn't! >.< My surname is very rare, and this user uses my first name and my surname as his nick. It records my achievements and how often and how long I play the game. Why? I don't want that! (okay, maybe there are also many games on steam which don't need steam installed. it's connecting to the steam platform everytime I'm playing.
#FREE CIV 5 STEAM KEY INSTALL#
I hate it if I can't share my game with my family or my friends (Why should I buy civ5 (or other games) four times, just to play it with my friends!? When I want to play monopoly or chess with someone else, it's enough to have ONE game o I exept the same from a pc game.),Īnd I hate it, that I have to install Steam on my pc in order to install and play a game like civ5. I don't like it if I can't save the game on my hard drive or my usb-stick, etc. Why do that?Īnd on-topic, +1 for the giveaway! That's ok for me. If you choose not to use Steam, you'll be missing out many upcoming games. KneeTheCap: Lots and lots of new games will be using Steamworks as their platform.
